Because they're working across such a multitude of channels, many of today's phone systems are adopting the moniker of Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS). Another legal issue that the US Congress is debating concerns changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The issue in question is calls between Americans and foreigners. The caveat there is the proverbial fine print, usually located just below the really attractive dollar figure. The internet doesn't do quality of service (QoS), and bandwidth can be unpredictable.
